You can drive a car without knowing exactly how a car-engine works. Similarly,
you can study a subject, in the minutest of detail - without knowing
the fundamentals about the cornerstones on which the whole subject is built.
It’s not a good sign though. It would be equivalent to being a world-expert
in economics without knowing what money is.
